Why Brooklyn Pet Spa for Dog Grooming?
Your dog’s groomer matters. A bad experience can make them anxious around bathing and handling for years. A good groomer? They become the person your dog looks forward to seeing.
Our groomers have show-dog experience and the temperament to handle every personality — from high-energy breeds to senior dogs who need extra gentleness. We know that a golden retriever needs a different approach than a poodle mix, and we customize our technique for your dog’s breed, coat type, and comfort level.
We’ll discuss your goals upfront: Are you prepping for a show? Want them mat-free and comfortable? Just need a routine refresh? We listen, we plan, and we deliver.

Virtual Breed Consultation (FREE)
Not sure what style works for your dog?
Book a 15-minute video call with one of our groomers to discuss breed standards,
coat type, and your dog’s lifestyle. They’ll recommend the best cut and frequency,
and answer any questions before the first appointment.
Custom Maintenance Plans
Show dog prep, seasonal grooming, or anxiety-friendly schedules.
We work with you to set up a grooming calendar that keeps your dog looking and feeling their best.
Show dogs might need grooming every 4 weeks; family pets every 6–8 weeks depending on breed.
BREED-SPECIFIC GROOMING
We Know Every Breed
Doodle Breeds (Goldendoodle, Labradoodle, Cockapoo)
High-maintenance coats that mat easily. We offer full grooms every 6 weeks or hand-stripping for show dogs. De-matting available if you're between appointments.
Double-Coat Breeds (Golden Retriever, German Shepherd, Husky)
Shedding season requires specialized de-shedding treatments. We don't shave these breeds unless medically necessary — we know the difference between a bath and a groom.
Wire/Terrier Coats (Schnauzer, Terrier Mixes)
Hand-stripping or clipping depending on show standards. Our groomers are trained in traditional hand-stripping for authentic breed presentation.
Toy Breeds (Shih Tzu, Maltese, Poodle)
Show cuts, puppy cuts, or breed trims — we excel at precision grooming. Perfect for dogs who need extra-gentle handling.
Short-Coat Breeds (Pit Bull, Lab, Boxer)
Routine baths, nail care, and skin health checks. We use conditioning treatments to keep their coats shiny and healthy.
Senior Dogs
Extra breaks, gentle handling, and modified positions to accommodate aging joints. We never rush a senior groom.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
Our Groomers Actually Know Dog Breeds
We’re not using a one-size-fits-all approach. Your golden retriever gets a different groom than your poodle mix
because their coats are completely different. We hand-strip terriers. We know not to shave double-coated breeds in summer.
We understand breed standards for show dogs.
Show Dog Experience
We’ve prepped dogs for AKC shows, regional competitions, and breed showcases.
If you’re showing your dog, we know what the judges are looking for and how to get your pup’s coat in top condition.
Gentle Handling for Anxious Dogs
First-time groomers. Rescue dogs. Dogs with bad past experiences.
We slow down, use positive reinforcement, and make it as stress-free as possible.
Some anxious dogs need multiple short visits before a full groom — we’re flexible.
Cage-Free Facility
Your dog isn’t locked in a cage between services. They hang out with our staff,
get playtime, and are supervised the entire time.
We Actually Care About Your Dog’s Health
During grooming, our groomers inspect skin, ears, paws, and overall health.
We’ll flag any concerns (matting, skin issues, lumps, ear infections)
so you can address them with your vet.

I’ve been going to Brooklyn Pet Spa for about 5 years now and I value and appreciate this establishment dearly. I’ve never had not one issue with grooming when it came to my dog for the 5 years I’ve been going to Brooklyn Pet Spa. Any specific requests I made before dropping my dog was accommodated flawlessly. They really bring out the cuteness from my dog and I’ve been getting compliments since I got my dog due to how great he’s groomed. If you’re reading this book the appointment ESPECIALLY if you have a poodle. They will make your dog look like it belongs on a commercial! Thank you Sandro & the brooklyn pet spa team I’m so glad I found you guys!Posted on Google Hedda GallardTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I am thrilled to share that I recently became the madrinha de três afilhados in Brasil. Minhas duas menininhas: 12-year-old Ana and 5-year-old Hadassa. (I love using these affectionate Portuguese terms!). Of course, I can't forget my 14-year-old, Pedro, who wants to be a professional futebol player. Ana has dreams of becoming a veterinarian, while little Hadassa wants to drive a big truck, to help me with my volunteer work. I wanted to introduce them to the enchanting American holiday of Halloween, and involving my beloved fur babies made it even more special. To share this moment, I reached out to a spa employee, who kindly sent me a photo of my dog being groomed, reminding us of the importance of reliable pet grooming for our pets' well-being and happiness. My best friend has a toy poodle from the Champion line of show dogs, with pedigree parents in Denmark. Upon returning to the U.S., she sought out a Master Groomer but was disappointed after trying several different places in less than six months. Unfortunately, the constant changes caused her dog so much stress that it had colitis (bloody stools), according to her Vet. This experience taught her—and me—the importance of finding a reliable groomer. I've been using Brooklyn Pet Spa for three years, since my dogs were puppies. Sandro recommended using a #7 clip for my dogs, which is safe and breed-appropriate. I switched from #10 to #7, knowing it promotes coat health. The Miniature Schnauzer show dog at the AKC Meet the Breeds was also cut with a #7, confirming its suitability. Sandro's breed-specific grooming expertise ensures my dogs look their best and stay healthy, especially Naomi, who has occasionally skin irritation from environmental allergies. Proper grooming not only keeps them looking great but also helps maintain their health and comfort. The photos of my dogs, just one week after grooming, show how well the grooming was done—they look fabulous! Someone should call William Galharde because my fur babies are more than ready for their close-up!Posted on Google Lisamarie MooreTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Brooklyn Pet Spa Pet Grooming Brooklyn is the only place I feel comfortable taking my son aka little dog. The owner is awesome and makes me feel so comfortable. The groomers are really skilled and the whole dog grooming process is quick and convenient. My pet always comes home looking and feeling great.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
It depends on breed and coat type:
- Double-coat breeds (Golden Retriever, Husky): Every 6–8 weeks
- Doodle breeds: Every 4–6 weeks (they mat quickly)
- Short-coat breeds (Lab, Pit Bull): Every 8–12 weeks or as needed
- Toy breeds: Every 4–6 weeks depending on style
- Show dogs: Every 2–4 weeks to maintain coat quality
- Regular grooming keeps skin healthy, prevents painful matting, and catches health issues early.
Bath Only
~$40–$60, 60–90 minutes:
- Shampooing, rinsing, and drying
- Basic de-shedding
- No haircut
Full Groom
$75–$175+, 2–4 hours:
- Bath, dry, and haircut
- Nail trimming & paw pad care
- Ear cleaning
- Anal gland expression
Most dogs need a full groom every 6–8 weeks; baths can happen more frequently if you want.
First-time groomers are our specialty. We take extra time, use lots of positive reinforcement, and never force anything. If your dog is really nervous, we can do a “meet and greet” first visit (bath only, no cut) to build trust.oncerns. This is valuable health monitoring. Let us know if you want a health report after grooming.
Tell us upfront if your dog is anxious — we’ll adjust our approach.
We actually recommend drop-off. Dogs are more relaxed when their owners aren’t in the room, and it’s easier for us to work efficiently. But we understand if you prefer to wait — just let us know.
Mats happen, especially with doodles and long-coated breeds. We can de-mat during grooming, but it adds time and cost. The best approach is regular grooming to prevent matting in the first place. Brush between appointments — we’re happy to show you how.
